ABOUT US....

The Little River Watershed Association is an East Tennessee based nonprofit that strives to be the “voice of the Little River”. We are an environmental education and conservation group that focuses on outreach and protection of the Little River Watershed and all things that are affected by it.

Little River Watershed Association(LRWA), was founded in 1998 by a group of people that were passionate about the advocacy and protection of the Little River. Our mission is to protect, preserve, and enhance the Little River by mobilizing public support, building public awareness, & promoting best management practices.  Since 1998, the organization and its board members have worked to educate the local community on the importance of the river to the local ecosystem, economy and culture. The Little River Watershed Association exists to protect and enhance the Little River and its tributaries through grassroots efforts and a community based approach of environmental stewardship. We do this by putting on several cleanups in the watershed throughout the year, hosting educational events like our Stream School for kids, and by providing a free blueways map to the community, so that they may go out and utilize this resource recreationally for themselves. We hope that through all our events and resources, that others will come to cherish and respect the Little River watershed as much as we do.

To accomplish this mission, LRWA performs three roles: advocacy, education and coordination of resources.

The LRWA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, all donations are tax deductible.
